Jerry was born on June 15, 1937 in Muskegon, MI to Albert and Mildred (Finney) Songer. On August 24, 1956 he married Carolyn Sue Ikemire, who survives.
Jerry was a member or the Oblong High School class of 1956 and the Central United Methodist Church in Oblong.
Jerry was known as a story teller. You would always leave him with a smile on your face, a new joke to tell, and probably shaking your head with laughter. Jerry was not a stranger to hard work, he enjoyed working at Anderson Trucking Company and Crawford County Oil. Jerry was a 16 year liver transplant survivor and was a strong advocate for organ donation. He was also diagnosed with skin and lung cancer which just proved that he was a fighter and had this amazing will and drive to live. He loved to fish, camp, and just be outside, but more than anything, he loved his grandkids and great grandkids. He will be sadly missed by many but his stories and jokes will live on for years and years to come.
Jerry is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue (Ikemire) Songer; two sons and daughters-in-law Tab Songer and Jennifer, Todd and Peggy Songer; two daughters and son-in-law Debbie and Kevin Gangloff, Beth Bennett; eleven grand children Steven and Rachel Kidwell, Amanda and Justin Miller, Jennifer Bower, Ashley Songer, Amy and Mike Scaricaciottoli, Tabitha Songer, Hannah Songer, Zach Songer and Chancie Slavens, Tyler Songer and Bridgette Armstrong, Brianna and Cory McCarter and Samantha and Ryan Bass, along with fourteen great grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by three sisters and brother-in-law Marilyn Kintner, Dixie Marshall, Anna Marie and Tom Wall and also several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents and great granddaughter Ava Songer.
